About

The Men They  Called George is a 35-minute documentary that chronicles the lives of men who were often disrespected by the mainstream yet revered by their neighbors. The Brothers of the Sleeping Car Porters (later known as Pullman Porters) were the first

All-Black unionized class of workers to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement with a major US company. These men dreamed about a better world for their families and ultimately changed the socio-economic structure of the Black community. These men were leaders in their community and in their families. Men who were the backbone of the Civil Rights Movement and men who sent generations to college; opportunities they themselves could have never imagined.
